Bhavans Kuwait Celebrates Its 15th Founder’s Day

For Bhavans Kuwait, the celebration of the Founder’s Day is not only an annual occasion to mark its epic journey that started in 2006 imparting quality education in sands of Kuwait but also a perfect time to greatly heighten the feeling of undying gratitude to its visionary founder, Mr. N. K. Ramachandran, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East. The 15th Founder Day of Bhavans Kuwait was celebrated conjointly by Indian Education School and Smart Indian School on September 11, 2020, making their virtual auditorium agog and abuzz with merriment and exhilaration.

The epoch-making event commenced at 4.30 p.m. with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran by Sahal Ansar of 10B and the rendition of the Kuwait National Anthem by the minstrels of SIS. After the virtual lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the prayer song by Daniel Thomas of 12A, the Bhavans anthem was melodiously rendered by the school choir. Ms. Sheeba C, a member of the Department of English, IES, extended a rapturous welcome to the august virtual gathering consisting of the Chief Guest, Ms. Meena Viswanathan, the Academic Consultant and Educational Officer, Bhavans Kendra, Cochin, Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon, the Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, Mrs. Sudha Ramachandran Menon, Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran Menon, the Vice Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, Ms. Divya Rajesh Ramachandran, the Director, Bhavans Middle East, Mr. P.B. Krishnadas Menon, the Director, Bhavans Kuwait, T. Premkumar, the Principal, Indian Education School, Mr. Mahesh Iyer, the Principal, Smart Indian School, the principals and the vice principals of all the Bhavans schools in the Middle East and the teaching fraternity, the parents and the students of Bhavans Kuwait. The invocation dance virtually staged by Ms. Sruthi Binu, a member of the Department of Dance, IES, garnered tons of appreciation from the spectators.

Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran Menon, Vice Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, while addressing the gathering, gratefully thanked the teachers, the parents and the students of Bhavans Kuwait for making the event a grand one. He reaffirmed that Bhavans would always give the best to its student community in terms of educational experiences and do everything feasible to make quality education thrive despite the ongoing pandemic, COVID 19. Following that, Ms. Divya Rajesh Ramachandran, Director, Bhavans Middle East, introduced the Chief Guest to the spectators. She travelled down the memory lane and stirred up the fond memories of her childhood being a student of the Chief Guest three decades ago.

The Chief Guest, Ms. Meena Viswanathan, the Academic Consultant and Educational Officer, Bhavans Kendra, Cochin, in her keynote address, expressed her deep gratitude to the management of Bhavans Middle East for maintaining a close association with her since its inception. She stated that ‘Happy Learning’ should take place in schools, and the other factors such as infrastructure are secondary as far as education is concerned. She advised the students to participate in all the activities organised by the schools, and emphasised that education is just like an equilateral triangle with the three sides – teachers, parents and students - and also affirmed that real education should develop curiosity, confidence and ‘never give up’ attitude in students. She confidently said that technology would never replace teachers who are the backbone of education.

The one-hour-long virtual cultural extravaganza ‘Udaan – Soaring High’ directed by Ms. Sujata Jaishankar and made exemplary by an amazing bunch of talented students and multifaceted teachers of IES and SIS lent a surreal charm to the celebration. The programme was designed in such a way that it could really impress the ardent fans of dance, music, and drama. The programme highlighted the importance of possessing the must-have quality of the present time, resilience, especially when going through an unpredictable situation or a pessimistic scenario.

Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, profusely thanked the whole Bhavans team and the students for organising a grand virtual programme despite the unfavourable circumstances. Mr. T. Premkumar, principal, Indian Education School, appreciated the entire Bhavans team for working relentlessly for making the day an exceptional one. He said that in order to be a visionary, one must be bold and steadfast, and a visionary not only believes that the impossible can be done but also makes sure that it is done. He also added that the Chairman displays all the qualities of a true visionary. Mr. Mahesh Iyer, the Principal, Smart Indian School, too expressed his deep gratitude to the Bhavans team for putting up a fantastic show of this magnitude.

Mr. T. Premkumar and Mr. Mahesh Iyer, principals of Indian Education School and Smart Indian School respectively presented a scroll of honor on behalf of the staff of Bhavans Kuwait, to Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, the founder cum chairman of the Bhavans Middle East. A video tiled ‘Visionary with the Midas Touch’ was also aired as a token of reverential gratitude to the founder on the Founder’s Day. In honor of their zealous efforts, the members of the staff of IES and SIS were felicitated with virtual certificates for completing ten and five years of exemplary service. The Class Coordinators of the previous academic year from both the schools too were awarded the virtual certificates for their excellent display of organizational skills that helped the school many a curricular and extracurricular activity. Ms. Divya Rajesh Ramachandran, Director, Bhavans Middle East, too addressed the gathering and said that the whole Bhavans family is proud of having a visionary leader like her father, Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon. Ms. Rajani Menon, Supervisor, Kindergarten, SIS, expressed her genuine thoughts, proudly reflecting on her memorable journey with Bhavans Kuwait and the Chairman. A vote of thanks was proposed by MS. Sujata Jaishankar, the director of the cultural extravaganza-‘Udaan-Soaring High.’ The emcees of the day were Ms. Marin Abraham, a teacher of the Kindergarten Wing, SIS, and Ms. Sindhu Ashok, the HoD of Biology, IES. The eventful day celebrated with vim and vigour drew to an end at 7.30 pm with the Indian National Anthem.
