A step Today is a mile Tomorrow

“Time and tide wait for none” this is a very frequently quoted phrase and, if you ask me, very vulgar. A more halo-ic and contemporary idea to take into perception the ability of time would be to recall that graph which we learn in physics. Distance-time, Displacement-time, Velocity-time, etc. However the term here would be Effectiveness-time. Many of the readers would, by now, have, under the intolerable impertinence, decided to collapse the effort to read further. So, for that majority of readers, here’s an elaboration.

In today’s fast paced life, under pressure-amassed, attaining success has become a prime. A population so large creates way too much competition, doesn’t it? However, life is somewhat like a cricket match. There is a target, though the number deliveries depend on how much you try and a bit of luck. You are the batsman (bowlers please don’t feel bad, you can’t bowl in the game of life) and you have to score the target. It depends on how you reach the target score, how you score runs. Is it a six that sails to glory? Or a 4, calmly streaming to success. Sometimes it’s a single or double, striving hard for survival. A dot piles up as burden. Unfortunately many end up losing their wicket.

That’s how life works. The bowler is different for each individual. May be similar but not same. You can’t predict anything till the last ball. That was a pretty good theoretical sketch of life. Practically as well, life is quite close to that, but some external factors come into play. Time is one of them. We learn everywhere that time moves at a fixed rate for everybody, irrespective of who they are or how they are, with the exception of the theory of Time Dilation- but that is not relevant. Life and time share so many similarities that, under a few circumstances, they can be used interchangeably.

Till now, this point of view would have submerged many into a sadistic philosophical tone. However there’s more to it than this. Many would have heard this saying ‘A Stitch in time saves nine’. It is very true and the main proposition is that there is one fabric that can be used to achieve success.
Time.

Everyone has to pass through the 4th dimension, whether knowingly or unknowingly, willingly or otherwise. Establishing a base and then allowing it to pass through time allows you to build further. What you do on the right time has far better results than something mistimed. One may put in twice the effort to gain the same outcome or use this tool called time-management. ‘If you fail to plan, you plan to fail’. Everyone certainly must be aware of this proverb.

The green-zone of time might be a right second, distinguished by a second. You would have seen debates. The most effective speakers are the ones who give one or two-liners at the very precise moment. Such speech leaves an impact. Businessmen perform certain activities at certain times, when it is most profitable in the long-run and near future alike. We witness innumerous situations in our daily life that blatantly impose that time is certainly a game changer.

However, as a rightly timed action turns out fruitful, a mistiming may cause devastation, at its peak. A wrong word, phrase or sentence at the wrong time may lead to severed ties or bitterness at the very least. That is why anger is regarded as a sheer enemy of success and peace as it ruins everything by pouring out the wrong choice of words, that maybe taken to serious sentimental attachment by some people. Furthermore, a very common example would be lying. One lie today would need to be followed by a thousand tomorrow.

Writing this, I would like to portray my personal feelings on this. For a person unaccustomed, or worse- contrary, to this fruitful demeanor, sudden exposure to such a theoretical approach would be very inspiring. But practical implementation is easier said than done. Reprogramming ones attitude is not an easy task and certainly can’t happen overnight. It takes time to learn how to utilize time, and more time to carry out the aforementioned. Composure is a key element that shall permit patience to reach the right time, while execution without laziness allows one to overcome procrastination.

This meticulous approach has sure benefitted me and it surely will everyone. But transitioning to it will take some discipline. Try applying this to common talks.

Speak when you have value to add. It shall leave a definitive impact on those you are conversing with. It will also help you maintain the patience you would require for your future and make a more respected person. So why not make use of this now itself. Plan out your progress and leave the rest to intuition, which, if not strong enough, will develop over time with constant usage.

Time won’t wait, it is in your hand how you utilize it.

Take a right step today to sail a mile forward by tomorrow.

Or take a wrong one to fall by a mile.
