Indian Independence Day

India, our motherland embraced freedom on 15th August 1947. The Indian Independence day also marks the end of British Rule in 1947 and the establishment of a free and independent nation. It also marks the anniversary of the partition of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan.
The independence coincided with the partition of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan and the partition was accompanied by huge violent riots and there as a large displacement of people too. On August 15th 1947, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru raised the national flag above the Lahore Gate in New Delhi.
Even on each subsequent Independence Day, The Prime Minister hoists the flag and gives an address to the nation.
The celebrations in the Independence Day include Flag Hoisting, The Nation Anthem – Jana Gana Mana, Fireworks, singing patriotic songs and speech by the Prime Minister of India and the President of India.
I am very proud to be an Indian Citizen and to have India as a great nation. I pay my salutes and respects to my motherland.
