Toastmasters International Open House Event Conducted by Durrar Toastmasters Club

Durrar Toastmasters Club (Club#4413490, Area-29, Division-H) in collaboration with Limelighter Gavel Club(Bhavans Kuwait) conducted an Open House event(ZOOM MEETING) on 17th July 2020 from 12:45 PM to 3:00 PM for individuals interested in building their confidence through public speaking and leadership skills. Presentations by DTM Alka Kumra (Immediate Past Club Growth Director) on BENEFITS OF BEING A TOASTMASTER and DTM Nancy Vijo (DTAC Champion 2019) on IMPROVE YOUR IMPROPTU SPEAKING SKILLS were the highlights of the event. The target audience were existing Toastmasters, anyone who wanted to improve their communication skills, Gaveliers and students of class 6 and above.

During her highly informative and motivating presentation DTM Alka Kumra shed light on how joining TOASTMASTERS can build the skills to be the communicator and leader one wants to be. The live and interactive session by DTM Nancy Vijo clearly demonstrated the various aspects of impromptu speaking with emphasis on content creation, delivery skills and how to personalize styles.

The OPEN HOUSE displayed a synergistic team work of the Durrar Toastmasters and Limelighters Gaveliers. The responsibilities were equally shared and it proved to be a successful model for future events. The meeting was opened by Sergeant at arms TM Adeeba Sarfaraz to be followed by presidential address by TM Aji George(Durrar) and Gavelier Adithyan Rajesh (Limelighter Gavel Club). Masters of Ceremony DTM Sindhumol Thomas and Gavelier Pavithra controlled the event smoothly from the start to the end. DTM Waffa Salman, TM Suresh Balakrishnan and TM Mahesh Iyer graced the occasion with their felicitations. The OPEN HOUSE concluded by vote of thanks by the Event Chairs TM Beetha Johnson and Gavelier Aldrin. It was a well-organized event, nearly more than above 80 participants from India and Middle East made use of this event through Zoom platform. The striking part of the event was the participation of around 45 non Toastmasters and gaveliers and around 35 Toastmasters from various clubs in Kuwait, India and Middle East.

Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Its benefitting more than 358,000 members through nearly 17000 clubs in 143 countries. In Kuwait there are nearly 70 clubs in English, Arabic and other languages.

Toastmasters International also operates Gavel Clubs, catering to young generation from 10 to 18 years of age. In Kuwait, there are more than 10 Gavel Clubs that are being mentored by experienced Toastmasters.
