MoI denies rumours on Kuwaiti nationality for accused Bangladeshi MP

The Ministry of Interior stated that the Bangladesh parliamentarian did not obtain Kuwaiti citizenship. The Ministry of Interior indicated that as per official record, the Bangladeshi accused is a citizen of his country and they also confirmed that he did not obtain Kuwaiti citizenship.

Yesterday many Bangladeshi newspapers reported that the accused obtained Kuwaiti citizenship. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday informed the countries parliament that "I don't know whether he is a Kuwaiti citizen or not, but if it is proven that he is a Kuwaiti citizen, the seat he occupies will be vacant".

Kuwait is earlier frozen the bank account worth 5 million dinars of Bangladesh parliamentarian who was accused of human trafficking in Kuwait.

According to an earlier report, the Bangladeshi parliamentarian, who also owns companies in Kuwait recruited around 20,000 workers from his country, allegedly charging between 1,800 and 3,000 dinars and he pocketed money equivalent to about 1,100 crore Indian Rupee.
