Committee to speed up construction of labour cities

Authorities have referred four taken by the Public services committee aimed at overcoming the obstacles to the construction of labour cities to the relevant authorities to study and
implement.

According to Al-Qabas daily, these decisions mandate the Kuwait Municipality to provide the public services committee within a week the proposed locations for temporary labour housing.

It also tasked the Ministry of Finance to study the possibility of putting some of the State’s land on public auction, to create labour cities.

The decision also tasked them to provide the ministry’s views regarding the extent of the bidders’ commitment to providing the public services committee with its conclusion within a week.

The council mandated the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, Manpower Public Authority, Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau, and entities it deems appropriate to merge the statistics and number of expatriate workers expected to be housed in the labor cities upon completion and also to provide the public services committee with its conclusion within a week.
