2,207 companies suspended, 282 cases registered for residency trade

Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Maryam Al-Aqil said that the ministry had suspended 2,207 companies and institutions in connection with residency trading.

In an interview to Kuwait TV, Minister said that 417 companies and institutions were referred to the competent authorities and Public Prosecution, resulting in 282 cases. These companies had registered 12,500 workers under it.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said that there are 526 people, including 49 citizens, involved in the issue of residency trade.

A government draft is ready for a comprehensive development of the residence law so that it focuses not only on increasing the penalties, but also on developing the residency system and benefiting from the experiences of developed countries, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said while talking to the Kuwait State TV. He was talking in response to increasing penalties for residency dealers.
