Government to provide needs of inhabitants in lockdown areas

Kuwait government will provide needs of inhabitants in areas to be under lockdown, as of Saturday, because of surge in coronavirus cases, spokesman Tareq Al-Mezrem said Thursday.

The government decided to impose lockdown on Farwaniya, Khaitan, Hawally, Nuqra and Maidan Hawally.

The government will provide food, health care and gas cylinders for cooking for the inhabitants of the areas, Al-Mezrem told an online news conference following a cabinet meeting, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Government authorities will maintain order in the areas as well, he said.

The government had imposed a lockdown on Mahboula and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh in a drive to curb spread of the virus.
