The higher education plan for a large number of Indian students in Kuwait is in a state of quandary after the coronavirus spread the world. As Kuwait also reported number of coronavirus cases, the Kuwaiti authorities implemented strict measures to safe guard the health of citizen and residents of this country. As part of this, Kuwait ministry announced closure of all the schools and resulted in cancellation of all the exams.

This extra measures taken by the Kuwaiti authorities forced the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to cancel the board exams for 12th standard students in Kuwait, whereas the students in India and other overseas centers are completing the exams.

The students and parents in Kuwait are in a dilemma as there is no official announcement regarding the canceled exams yet.

In addition to the uncertainty in board exams, currently all flight service from Kuwait is also cancelled, which has affected many of the students plan to prepare for their higher education in India. Currently there is no clear picture as when the flight service to India will re-open.

This has put them in a confused state as many of the entrance tests for higher education will begin from April first week and students are required to travel to India to attend these entrance test.

The JEE Main exam for those students who wish to join the engineering stream for higher education scheduled to begin in April 1st week while Entrance test for Engineering, Architecture and Medical for various states will be held from mid of April. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for students who wish to study undergraduate medical courses and dental courses in India will be held in May as per the current schedule.

As per the Government of India directive, any passenger coming from Kuwait must be in quarantine for a minimum of 14 days. Even if the flight service from Kuwait is restored by April 1st week, the students will not be able to appear for the exams which is scheduled from April 1st week due to the compulsory quarantine requirement by government of India.

The higher education also depends on the marks of their board exam for 12th standard, which they are clueless how CBSE will manage the missed exams.

A choice remain for the students in Kuwait is to postpone these entrance exams by the respective authorities. As of now, no official announcement has come from any authorities about postponement of these exams as this will also impact the beginning of academic year. If there is no postponement, parents urge the Indian Embassy in Kuwait to coordinate with the respective authorities to allot center in Kuwait to conduct these entrance examinations. However, this need special approval from the Kuwait authorities as currently Kuwait is strictly instructed all educational institutions to shut its door for any kind of activity.

The parents request an urgent interference in this regard by India government otherwise the higher students plan for thousands of Indian students in Kuwait will be jeopardized.
