Kuwait Liberation Day is celebrated on 26th February. This marks the day when Kuwait was liberal from Iraq invasion in 1991. Liberation day is celebrated as a public holiday in Kuwait. Green, red, black and white are the colours of Kuwait flag which people wear on clothes and celebrate.February is the most beautiful and memorable month in Kuwait. It is the most pleasant climate and people like to spend time outdoors.

This day is celebrated by the whole country by both citizens and residents together all day long by planning get together, public events and a lot of promotions in various shopping malls. Children often celebrate with water splashes, face paintings, dancing, singing etc.

This day is remembered as ascension of Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah to the throne of Kuwait in 1950.It’s an effort to complete with the Ottoman Empire, he sought to modernize Kuwait. From the time Kuwait has been released by the British, the government of Iraq found Kuwait to be promising because of the discovery of oil reserves of the country.In fact, in 1952 the country became the largest producer and exporter of oil in the Persian Gulf region. This country also remembers 605 prisoners of war who are still in the hands of the Iraqi government upto present time. And finally, on February 26,1991 Iraq’s authority over Kuwait was abolished declaring the country as independent and on full sovereignty.

The national Liberation Day is the celebration of Kuwait’s independence. This month symbolizes victory, happiness and Arabian warmth and hospitality
