Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) elected Ashok Garlapati as Board Member

BCSP recently completed Board selection and included Ashok Garlapati, CSP as a Board Member in 2020. Garlapati will be joined by Teresa Cole, CSP and Donald Robinson, PhD, CSP, PE, ARM-E as new members of the Board of Directors.
Garlapati is a Health, Safety & Environment professional certified with CSP, QEP and CFIOSH (Chartered Fellow of IOSH, UK). He has 31 years of experience in HSE consultancy and HSE management in the oil and gas industries. He is also the Lead Auditor of the ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO45001 standards and approved as an OSHA outreach Trainer. He has extensive experience in implementation of HSE management systems for process industries in line with international standards. Garlapati is a professional member of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), and a past president of ASSP's Kuwait Chapter. He played an important role in the Kuwait Chapter's establishment in the year 2001, which has become now ASSP's largest international chapter and currently serving in its Advisory Board.
As a member of ASSP's Global Taskforce, Garlapati supported the establishment of ASSP Chapters in India, UAE, Nigeria, and Pakistan. He was a first Vice President of ASSP Global Region, which serves all 10 international chapters located around the World.
Garlapati received the Charles V. Culbertson Award, the Region VI Safety Professional of the Year Award, ASSP Presidents Award and the Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year Award and IPS SPY Award. He has been appointed by ASSP-USA as ASSP Ambassador (2013-19) and Ambassador of BCSP-USA in recognition of his professional volunteering.
Garlapati is a member of the IADC (International Association for Drilling Contractors), IOGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers),' IPEICA (International Petroleum Industries Environmental Conservation Association, international representative of Offshore Group of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, UK), Institution of Engineers- India, Safety Engineers Association of India and member of Tamil Nadu Engineers Forum Kuwait. Garlapati is currently working with Kuwait Oil Company as a HSE Consultant (Drilling & Technical Support Directorate).
