Rafael Nadal Academy launched in Kuwait; Indian girl Sai Harshita Adivi won maiden U-16 title

Indian girl Sai Harshita Adivi (Khushi) has won Girls U-16 category in the Tennis Competition conducted by Rafa Nadal Academy in Kuwait. The Rafal Nadal Academy was launched yesterday at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Tennis Complex located in Al-Zahraa in presence of tennis legend Spain's Rafael Nadal and a galaxy of high profile dignitaries.


Harshita received the trophy from the Master Player Mr. Rafael Nadal Wednesday evening in a glittering ceremony held at the newly launched facility near 360 mall. Mr. Nadal handed over the trophy in presence of Kuwait Royal Member His Highness of Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at Rafa Nadal Academy Kuwait.

Hailing from west Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh, Harshita is studying in Class 9 at FAIPS (DPS) Ahmadi. She is the daughter of Shri Bala Siva Srikanth Adivi & Mrs. Mohini Vimala Kiran who hails from Bhimavaram, West Godavari District Andhra Pradesh. Harshita's father Mr. Bala is working as TPL Specialist I (HSE) in Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait.



Earlier the Rafal Nadal Academy was launched in the presence of National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri, President of Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of Public Authority for Sport Humoud Flaiteh and his deputy Saqar Al-Mulla, Hawalli Governor Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Sabah and a number of Sheikhs, officials and dignitaries.

The ceremony also witnessed an exhibition match held between Spain's Rafael Nadal, the world number one, and his fellow challenger David Ferrer.

The complex includes 18 tennis courts, the inside main court accommodates 5000 spectators, while the outside one's capacity is 1500. The complex also contains a hotel with 300 rooms, and special utilities for tennis as well as Kuwait Tennis Federation's H.Q. The facility, built on an area of 70,000 square meters, contains several utilities and services regarding the game. The courts are well equipped in line with world-class standards.
