Kuwait Odisha Association Conducted 17th Annual Cricket Tournament & 1st Annual Athletic Meet

KOA conducted their 17th Annual Cricket tournament (Final) and 1st Annual Athletic Meet for KOA members on Friday, 17th January 2020 with a grand success.
The 17th edition of KOA Annual cricket tournament was inaugurated on Friday, 20th December 2019 by Mr. Walid M. Al-Abdul Salam, Snr.Supervisor Drilling & Workover Operations, KOC. Many Odia brother and sisters joined the inauguration ceremony and enjoyed the game of cricket on that day.

On the final day Mr. Mohammad Al-Abdul Salam, Ex Manager Public Relations, KOC, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, whereas, Mr. Walid M. Al-Abdul Salam, Snr. Supervisor Drilling & Workover Operations, KOC was Guest of Honour.

Mr. Mohammad Al-Abdul Salam remembered his days as President of KOC cricket club during the event and both guests stayed on the ground for more than an hour, enjoyed the game of cricket and distributed the prizes to the winner and runner for the cricket tournament and he has praised the socio-cultural activities conducted by us and generally by Indians and thanked KOA for inviting him for the event.

KOA also hosted it’s 1st ever Annual Athletic Meet on the same day to instill sports culture among the members especially the young generation ones away from e-sports. Almost all the parents and kids present participated whole heartedly in the athletic events like Running Race, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Sack Race, and Balancing Race. At the end of the athletic meet, the icing on the cake was KOA Women Cricket where all the Odia ladies and girls present on the ground participated and played the game of cricket with enthusiasm and spirit. All the winners will be honoured with Medals during the “Utkal Divas” – The KOA Annual Function on 3rd April 2020.

During the day of opening and closing there was an arrangement for mix basket breakfast including traditional ODIA, North Indian and Arabic food. On the Closing Ceremony day, there was sumptuous Odia Lunch prepared by own Chefs from KOA Kitchen. KOA sincerely appreciated the hard effort of those who spent their day in preparing such delicious food.

During the whole day there were many photographers who voluntarily clicking their mobiles to take photos and videos and many of them went live in FACEBOOK.
Fortunately during the final day, an AIR SHOW presentation was in progress by Kuwait Govt. and our ground was very near to that location and so all enjoyed the AIR SHOW freely.

In the his closing remarks, KOA President, Mr. Girija Shankar Padhy thanked the Kuwaiti Dignitaries for their time, kind presence and support to the ODIA fraternity present in Kuwait. He expressed his sincere appreciation to all the members for their participation,the KOA Chefs for the delicious food and Volunteers for their splendid effort in organizing the event smoothly and making it a grand success. The day ended with lots of memories and fun.
