Indian Doctors Forum Conducted Docfest 2020 “IDF-Archives of a Medico –The Path Trodden.”

The Indian Doctors Forum (IDF) Kuwait, the premier sociocultural association of Indian doctors in the state of Kuwait, commemorated the release of the 16th edition of their annually published health guide and held their “IDF DOCFEST 2020 -Archives of a Medico – The Path Trodden.” cultural variety show at the Hotel Regency on 31st January 2020.

The Chief Guest H.E Dr. Basel Hamoud Al Hamoud Al Sabah, Hon.Minister for Health was represented by H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Al Hadi, Asst. undersecretary & Secretary General KIMS. The Guest of Honor were H.E. Shri K. Jeevasagar; Ambassador of India to Kuwait and Dr. Ahmad Thuwaini Al Enizi President KMA.

The event was also attended by a galaxy of dignitaries including Ambassador of Bangladesh H.E. S. M. Abul Kalam, and, Sheikha Al Dusairi, Dr. Ali Al Mousawi, Dr. Hussain Dashti. Dr. Amal Al Kader, Dr. Salem Al Kandari, Secretary KMA and diplomats. Also present were senior doctors & Departmental Heads from various Hospital & Faculty from Kuwait. It was graced by the esteemed presence of senior Indian Business persons and presidents & secretaries of various associations in Kuwait and sponsors of IDF Health Guide 2020.

Dr. Madhu Gupta Vice President anchored the program. She welcomed the Dignitaries to the dais. Dr. Surendra Nayak President IDF escorted the Chief Guest Dr. Ibrahim Al Hadi, Dr. Diwakar Vice President escorted H.E. Shri Jeevasagar & Dr. Mohan Ram General Secretary with Dr. Rajendra C. Mishra Treasurer escorted Dr. Ahmad Thuwaini Al Enizi to the Dias.

The evening commenced with the national anthems of Kuwait and India. It was followed by recitation of the Holy Quran by Dr. Syed Mahmood Rahman. Dr. Mohan Ram, General Secretary of the IDF welcomed the assembled dignitaries and guests.

Dr. Surendra Nayak, President of the IDF, welcomed the audience and highlighted the community health promotion activities which are regularly conducted by the IDF to raise awareness among the public about a variety of medical issues. He briefed them on the activities of the association. He took the opportunity to thank all the well-wishers and sponsors for the continuous support to the organization.

The inaugural address was given by Dr. Ibrahim Al Hadi, in which he read the message from H.E Dr. Basel Hamoud Al Hamoud Al Sabah, Hon. Minister for Health. He conveyed his congratulations to the IDF and the Indian community at large. Mr. K. Jeevasagar praised the Indian doctor’s dedication and work ethics. To highlight the selfless and compassionate work done by Doctors for which they are held in high regards and respect, he narrated four anecdotes from his personal experiences and interaction with communities around the globe. Dr. Ahmad Thuwaini Al Enezi highlighted the valuable contributions made by Indian doctors. He stressed the close bond between KMA & IDF.

The health guide was officially introduced by Chief editor Dr. Jagannath. He was accompanied with associate Editors Dr. P.S.N. Menon and Dr. Gautam Heber. The current edition, entitled "Medical Innovations ", is comprised of a collection of articles authored by experts in the various fields of medicine and related specialties. The topics are written in simple non-technical language with the general public in mind. The articles provide a valuable insight into medical field, the latest advances in it and what it holds for future. The health guide was officially released by Dr. Ibrahim Al Hadi and the first copy was presented to Mr. K. Jeevasagar and Dr. Ahmad Thuwaini Al Enizi.

In a ceremonial touch Shawls, Garland & Mementos were presented to the dignitaries by the office bearers - Dr. Surendra Nayak, President, Dr. C. Diwakara & Dr. Madhu Gupta Vice Presidents, Dr. Mohan Ram, General Secretary, Dr. Rajendra C. Mishra, Treasurer on behalf of IDF.

Dr. Diwakar Chaluvaiah, vice-president of the IDF, gave the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to the many dignitaries, well-wishers and sponsors present for their valuable encouragement and support.

The cultural program was kicked off by Dr. Antony D’Cruz, Cultural Secretary, and Dr. Naquib Inamdar, Joint Cultural Secretary of the IDF & Dr. Anila Albert. They explained how the concept of Archives of a medico –the path trodden was conceptualized and, planned and executed.

The show was beautifully displayed by use of Videos, Music and Dances. Senior members, the past & present office bearer and members with their children participated and showed their dancing, acting & singing skill to the delight of the august gathering. The performers, composed of IDF members and their families, performed a variety of unique dances & Skits. It concluded with a regal marriage procession in all its splendor.

The finale of the cultural program where all the Artists and Office bearers of IDF participated with flags of Kuwait and India depicting the solidarity between these two great nations. It was greeted by standing ovation, applause and loud cheers.

The event concluded with a sumptuous Buffet Dinner prepared by the MasterChef’s of Hotel Regency. After the dinner all the guests were gifted with health guide. And a Raffle draws with grand prizes for IDF Members.

The audience was enthralled by the creative, imaginative, exciting and one of a kind performance. The event was a grand success thanks to the hard work of the IDF members and their families.
