Thanima organized ‘Puthuvalsarathanima 2020’ at United Indian School, Abbassiya

To welcome the new year with fresh hopes, aspirations and expectations Thanima organized ‘Puthuvalsarathanima 2020’ at United Indian School, Abbassiya aiming to rekindle the harmony among the expatriate Indian community in Kuwait.

The program began by offering tributes to late Thomas Chandy MLA, who was also the Patron of Thanima since its inception. Jacob Varghese presented the Condolence Resolution.

Public meeting was presided over by Vinod Omalloor, Puthuvalsarathanima convener. Babuji Bathery (Thanima General Convener), Adv. John Thomas, Fr. Thomas Jacob, C.P. Abdul Aziz, Ajith Kumar, Hamza Payyannoor, Rana Varghese and Prathapan Mannar spoke on the occasion reiterating the need of the hour – communal harmony. It is time to raise our voice against politics of hate and violence threatening the fabric of the society.

The highlight of the event was the traditional carol singing competition arousing nostalgic feelings among the gathering. From Senior Group, The Shepherds of Bethani, Abbassiya Achayans and KMRM MCYM bagged the first three positions respectively claiming trophies and cash prizes. Teams Kuttikudumbam and Kuttipattalam were adjudged as the first and second winners in the Junior Group. All other teams received participation trophy. Saji Sebastian, Joby Abraham and Biju Thikkodi were the judges.

Winners of the Building Decoration contest, a new initiative by Thanima, also received trophies. Flatmates Building stood first followed by Alphonsa Hall Building and Indian Saree House Building claiming second position and No. 93 Nice Restaurant Building came third. Saji Edakadampil, Eldhose Mattamana and Sangeeth Somnath were in the judging panel.

Malavika, Serafin and Catherine rendered melodious devotional songs. Kuttithanima, the Children’s wing of Thanima and D’Voice team presented carol songs. Artist Baptist Ambrose was honored for his contributions to the Indian community in Kuwait.

Mariamma Varghese who is on a visit to Kuwait was honored at the function by senior Hardocre members Raghunathan Nair and Johny Kunnil. Along with Shaiju Pallipuram and Arpitha Jojimon, Shaji Varghese, D.K Dileep, Jojimon Thomas, Benoy Abraham, Ashraf Choorat, Alex Varghese, Geomon Joseph, Maju Karipal, Jeeson Joseph, Freddy Francis, Savio Job, Ginu K. Abraham, Shobin, Thomas Kattanam and other Hardcore members coordinated the event.
