Kuwait Odisha Association (KOA) Conducted Winter 2019 Picnic

KOA conducted their winter 2019 Picnic on Friday, 1st November 2019 in Khairan, to experience not only the countryside life but also the pleasure of sea beach with clean and clear water front. Almost around 200 people Joined the picnic to spend a day filled with lots of fun and relaxation with friends and families.

The day kicked off with fellow Odias gathering at different pick up points to enjoy Bus ride to the picnic spot rather than travelling by own vehicles. The mood for the picnic started with rolling of the buses coupled with songs, dances, antakshri on the bus floor and mini breakfast with the so called Arabic “MUSHAKAL” and “Falafel”. All of them are thrilled by looking at the venue spot and when they saw it is adjacent to the sea shore, many of them jumped and curious to touch it as fast as possible. After a short meet and greet, everyone enjoyed South Indian Breakfast (Idli and Vada) at the Venue on the beach front.

After the breakfast the day started with a lot cultural activities (instrumental, dance, song), games and chit chats in groups, people scattered around venue spot and enjoyed on their own way in groups and individuals. Some of them were playing cards, some cricket, kids are enjoying in the kids playing zone and many went to the sea to take sea bath and enjoyed themselves. During the whole day there were many official and unofficial photographers who continuously clicking their camera to take photos and videos and even some of them went live in FACEBOOK.

The sumptuous lunch was an amalgamation regular food from Restaurant and special Odia food prepared by fellow Odia friends in the KOA kitchen (MUTTON CURRY, DAHI BAIGANA, ALU POTAL). A big thanks to those from KOA KITCHEN who were involved in preparing the food overnight selflessly.

During the Event, KOA President and General Secretary dedicated the IIK DIWALI MELA “Best Stall Trophy” WON by KOA to the Odia Community as their success and also thanked IIK for arranging such a mega event for Indian Diaspora for 8 years in a row. Everyone cherished the splendid performance of Odia ladies in the first time organized Fashion show in the Diwali Mela. All participants were presented their certificates. Kids were also applauded for their excellent performance in dance during the IIK Diwali Mela.

After the evening Tea/Coffee, all Winners were awarded prizes and then the exciting game of HORSE Race started followed by the game of HOUSIE (Tambola) which were one of the main attraction of the day. The picnic ended with a group photo session and a vote of thanks by President, KOA.
