“Some people are real. Some people are good. Some people are real good at being fake”

-A joke I saw on the internet

Do you know about dual SIM-Card phones? Wonderful, aren’t they? You can insert two SIM-Cards at the same time and activate one at your will. Just great. Dual SIM-Card phones are really useful for people who have to keep travelling. But, I have noticed some very extraordinary walking, talking (and of course, faking) dual SIM-Card phones.

A really good friend of mine showed me the walking, talking dual SIM Cards firsthand. She’s a really studios girl and spends her valuable time studying and scoring great marks. Hence, she got the post of ‘nerd’ from a boy and his bunch of intolerable cronies. If somebody doesn’t like what the boy likes, or doesn’t do what the boy does, he insults them so much. He laughs at them, he mocks them, and he verbally abuses them. And his cronies repeat whatever he does. So soon, we got a nice little I-don’t-respect-other’s-choices gang, Now, I’ve been knowing that girl since I was born (probably even before that). She’s her own self and acts normally when we hang out. But when the I-don’t-respect-other’s-choices gang is around? It’s like someone activated her 2nd SIM Card. I never have, and never will, bow down to the boy and his cronies like everybody else does. So they insult me every single time, calling me ‘a book-loving, boring, not-enjoying-life geek’. And she insults me with them. I’ve lost count of how much times she’s pretended to be a loose-studier around them. She hates those boys as much as them, but she’s so cracked under the pressure of those boys that she’s forgotten her true self. She’s become a dual SIM-Card phone.

People who fake their personalities are like chicken pox. Once someone starts faking who they are, human nature can’t resist. We also begin faking our nature. Why do we have to pretend as somebody else? Why do we have to act as if we are not interested in a field, if we truly are? Dual SIM-Card phones look good only in travels. We shouldn’t apply this in real life.

Nowadays, peer pressure is increasing. Curse words and Instagram ‘hearts’ are all that matter in today’s world. Technology was supposed to connect our eyes and ears to the world, but today, they have made us blind. Schoolkids spend our time with a ‘virtual bat’ playing ‘virtual tennis’. In more modern words, gadgets vanished books just like Thanos vanished the world. Only half of the books are respected, and only 1/4th of people in the world are reading books now, and books are being read from a concept called ‘E-Books’. Hard copies of books, or books themselves and family time are all mocking matters now. These gadget addictions and omitting studying matters are crazy enough without having to impose them on others! When a gadget addict imposes and mocks the guy who actually cares about the good stuff, dual SIM-Card phones are being created in the world. In the end, nobody’s life is being ruined in the process except the dual SIM-Card phones themselves.

“To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man”
- William Shakespeare

I bet you’re thinking, “Shakespeare? Boo!”. Before that, take my advice (not that I’m a philosopher or anything). Remove that dual SIM slot you’re having. Take off your fake mask. Be the real you. Then, not just Shakespeare, nothing else in the world will seem bleak to you anymore.
