A salute to the founders of a loving legacy-the treasures of every home

Grandparents are the strong foundations of every family so they deserve all the love and respect. On 26th September,2019 Salmiya Indian Model School celebrated Grandparents’ day with great ardour and enthusiasm. The auditorium was filled with an ambience of festivity as the Grandparents were welcomed with cheerful faces and loud applauses.

The program started with the recitation of the verses of the holy Quran followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. The Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Anis Ahmad. He welcomed all the Grandparents and rightly said that every program is chaired by a chief-guest but for that particular program, every grandparent present there was the Chief-guest.

This was followed by a soulful song by the choir which made the audience very emotional as for many of them it was to be for the first time to see their grandchildren perform on the stage. Then followed a trail of scintillating and exuberant dance performances by the students of grade 4, 5 and 6. Small children shaking their legs on old Hindi songs was an amazing sight. Children surprised their grandparents with gifts and greeting cards and a beautiful video displaying the pictures of the children with their grandparents was played on the screen . One of the grandparents Mr. Zakaria expressed his gratitude for providing an opportunity to be a part of the varied school culture. The program came to an end with Vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Anita Sadanand. She thanked the Grandparents for being a source of inspiration and guidiance. She rightly remarked that sensitizing the youth towards the need to respect the elderly is the responsibility of the parents and the teachers. It was heartwarming to see the teary eyed grandchildren and the grandparents at the end of the program.
