“No To Plastic” Campaign at The Avenue Mall by KISR and Greenhands Environmental Team

The campaign was successfully organized by KISR and Greenhands Environmental Team with the coordination of the Principal Mrs.Sabahat Khan, Kuwait Indian School. Respected teachers and a number of young and talented students from various grades actively took part in the campaign. It aimed at raising awareness of dangers of plastic pollution, which affects human health and our environment. The campaign started with the introduction of Director of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research(KISR) Dr Samira Omar and the team followed by the interaction about the plastics and its impact upon human health and environment.







Meanwhile, Dr Samira Omar honoured the Principal of Kuwait Indian School for the cooperation with a shield from KISR. In a bid to spread awareness, campaign team distributed eco-friendly products like jute bags, paper bags, T-shirts, wooden cookery items to the active participants to splash their ideas and concept of plastic free environment into awareness among the shopkeepers and the customer at the avenue mall. They deciphered the importance of green and clean environment, rising threads and hazards of plastic pollution. Active participants advised them to cut down a single-use plastic waste which is harmful for environment and all living beings. The participants distributed awareness publications using environmental friendly materials. Moreover, student participants became clear about the effects of plastics on human health and how it affects our body like endocrine glands, causing obesity, heart disease, respiratory problem, cancer and autism.







The campaign team handed over the token of gift to the active student participants and the teachers of Kuwait Indian School. The campaign ended after the photo-session. The overall program was more fruitful and prosperous. Moreover, we saw the perspective change with the students and the public through this campaign. Nevertheless, the team work, they showed during the campaign was worth appreciating. ‘Say No to Plastic’, said a statement that was released by the campaign team at the end.
