Samarpan organizes “Cleanliness is Service” campaign

Samarpan, Gujarati Cultural Association, under patronage of Indian Embassy organized “Swachhata Hi Seva” (Cleanliness is Service) campaign on Friday, the 4th October 2019 to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary which was on 2nd October. The campaign was introduced as, both to commemorate his birth anniversary & also to bring awareness amongst the people to contribute in maintaining the cleanliness.







The cleanliness campaign was kicked off by opening remarks by Mr. Ramneek Singh, from Embassy of India and presenting a T-shirt with message “Swachhata hi Seva” printed on it. The members started with cleaning of Abuhalifa Park and collected more than 8 bags of garbage which included plastic & glass bottles, disposable plates & containers, empty cigarette packets and cigarette butts, plastic carry bags & plastic sheets, tissue papers, food stuff and other waste materials. They also cleaned few streets of Abuhalifa, Walking track and successfully conveyed the message to the residents of block 1, Abuhalifa.







Describing this campaign as an attempt to fulfill the dream envisaged by Mahatma Gandhi, Hitesh Patel - President of Samarpan thanked the Executive committee, all the participants and volunteers for their support to make it successful. He specially thanked Mrs. Amita Desai for her suggestion & initiatives taken to conduct this campaign. Mrs. Amita Desai believes that it’s a “great way to pay tributes to Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi)”. Mr. Hitesh Patel also thanked the Indian Embassy for encouraging us organizing this campaign and providing all the support required for obtaining permission from the authorities of the state Kuwait. The campaign was concluded with light refreshments and a thanks note by President.
