“Ideals of Onam is embedded in the principles of Indian Constitution” - Justice Kurian Joseph

Angamaly Pravasi Association Kuwait (APAK) celebrated ‘Ponnonam 2019’ at Carmel Scholl Auditorium on 27 Sept. 2019. Hon’ble Justice Kurian Joseph, Former Supreme Court Judge of India was the Chief Guest.

As part of his message, he pointed out the closeness of the intrinsic values of Onam to our constitutional elements. “Equality amongst citizens, significance of collectivism, truthfulness, and justice that’s embedded in our constitution are few to mention”, he told. Our constitution believes that the power is derived from the people and guarantees freedom of expression, beliefs, worship and faith and stands for the welfare of mankind. Lord Mahabali, according to mythology, believed in these elements and he is being respected by Malayalees for upholding such values during his regime.

He emphasized the relevance of Onam for the entire Malayalee community. It’s a season for coming together. Sharing the festivity of togetherness. Onam represents the outlook of Malayalees. “We get happiness in getting involved, in sharing what we have and while serving the needy during any adversity. That’s the unique spirit that makes a Malayalee great” - Justice pointed out.

Mr. Dennis Joseph, President of APAK presided over the meeting while Mr. Rajagopal Singh, Deputy Commission of Missions, Embassy of India, Kuwait and Rev. Sr. Christy Maria, Principal Designate, Carmel School Khaitan gave felicitation speech as special guests. Mr. Anto Paul welcomed the gathering while Sajeev Paul Past president if APAK and Mr. Johnson Arackal Advisory Board Chair also spoke during the meeting followed by vote of thanks by Treasurer Mr. Paul Palatty.
