New Gulf Indian School Kuwait celebrated Onam 2019

The New Gulf Indian School Kuwait celebrated Onam 2019 with 'Theme Kerala'. The three – day celebrations started with an eve of traditional games for the parents. The Uthradam day was celebrated by the staff with a sumptuous “Onasadya”. The Thiruvonam day (11-09-2019) celebrations started with a mesmerizing dance performance by the students of grade 6 and 7 which was followed by an Onam song by the students of grade 4. A skit based on the story of Mahabali, the benevolent Daitya king was also presented by the students of grade 4 to 7. The festival Onam is celebrated to mark his yearly homecoming after being set down to the underworld Sutala by Vamana, a dwarf and the fifth incarnation, avatar of Lord Mahavishnu. Pookkalam (floral carpet) and tug of war were conducted as inter-class competition. Gauri Nandana and Inara Khadeeja of grade 7 delivered the welcome speech.
