“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”- Albert Einstein

A teacher is a friend, philosopher, and a guide who holds our hand, opens our mind, and touches our heart. A teacher is indeed a very great person who understands a child well and helps him/ her to develop into a better person in the society. Without him /her this world wouldn’t be like it is now. They mould a child into a better personality.

The contribution done by a teacher to this society is indeed not ignorable. So, to give a tribute to the contribution of the teacher we celebrate teachers day every year. The universally accepted World Teacher's Day is 5th October. In India, the Teacher's Day is celebrated on 5th September and this tradition started from 1962. This is when Dr.Sarvapelli Radhakrishnan was born. He was a philosopher, scholar, teacher, and politician and his dedicated work towards education made his birthday an important day in the history of India. We remember the great work of this exemplary person on this day.

On this day, teachers and students report to school as usual but the usual activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanks and remembrance. In some schools, senior students take the responsibility of teaching in order to show their appreciation for the teachers.

Teachers help students find important things they have lost every day. Sometimes it’s a paper, backpack or jacket other times it is courage, confidence or a smile. They are the people who bring a child from darkness to light.

In the ancient times there used to be a great poet named ‘Kabir.’ He was once asked a question that who was great a teacher or god. He answered that a teacher was greater as they are the ones who tell us the way towards god. They are the ones who make a proper personality.

With all this I would like to conclude that a teacher is indeed a very great person and we must respect them whenever and wherever we meet them. They are one of the person who care for us, who teach us about the good things and who is our well-wisher, who cares about our welfare.

“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.”
