North Kanara Association celebrated the Feast of Assumption as well as the Independence Day of India

On 15th August, 2019, North Kanara Association- Kuwait joined together as one family to celebrate the Feast of Assumption as well as the Independence Day of India.

After the religious obligations were completed at the St. Therese Church, Salmiya, members gathered at the residence of the President John Fernandes to celebrate both the occasions. Prayers were offered in thanksgiving for enabling the Association to celebrate this feast year after year. Rev. Fr. Dominic Sequeira SDB, Parish Priest of Salmiya Church, gave a brief yet inspiring talk to the audience who were touched. He was honoured with a bouquet of flowers. It was also a delight for the attendees to have our Ex-President Mr. Joseph L. D’Souza along with his spouse Ms. Elvira D’Souza amongst them.

The atmosphere was truly festive. A game of housie delighted the audience which was conducted by Ms. Catherene Borges, Mr. Sebastian Noronha and Mr. Clifford Miranda. Various gifts were distributed.

The gracious presence of Mr. Somu Shaker Naidu Kasamurthy, a noted Official of Indian Embassy in Kuwait was yet another cause of pride and delight to the attendees. He was instrumental in helping the Association during the renewal of membership of the Association. He was honoured with a Memento and a bouquet of flowers. The President gave a brief introduction of his contributions to the Association.

National Anthem of India was sung to commemorate the Independence Day of India with due respect.

A sumptuous dinner was served. The traditional dessert Patholi was prepared by a few committee members who contributed to make this, year after year, and this was relished by all.

The function was the result of a few dedicated members who contributed to make this a true success, which in turn helped in making the members happy and to look forward to such gatherings in the future.
