Thomsonians Bid Farewell to Sharma and Goyal

Farewell, Goodbye, Adieu are simply words to say that we will miss you dearly and we will remember you fondly. University of Roorkee (UOR) Alumni Association (Thomsonians / Ex-Tho) Kuwait Chapter, a diversified group of professionals with Engineers from different disciplines, Architects, Geologists, Doctors (Ph.D.) who graduated from the “Thomson College of Engineering (now IIT-Roorkee, India)” and from various parts of India, bid farewell to two of its esteemed members - Mr. Umesh C. Sharma and Mr. Vinod K. Goyal on July 21, 2019 at Zafran Indian restaurant, Abu Halifa.

Mr. Umesh Sharma graduated from UOR in 1970 in Mechanical Engineering and came to Kuwait in 1980 and worked with several organizations since then at various capacities in the field of Mechanical Engineering (Design & Construction). Mr. Sharma completed his Masters (post graduation) in Mechanical Engineering from the Kuwait University, Kuwait.

Apart from his professional contributions and achievements, Mr. Sharma has been very active on social, cultural and sports fronts. He had been the President of UPKAR, President of Writers' Forum (WFK) and the Chairman of the AIP. Lately he was working as the convener of Education and Career Guidance Committee of the Indian Business and Professionals (IBPC), Kuwait. Mr. Sharma was associated with Kuwait Players and Natya Bharati and acted in many full length / one act plays Mr. Sharma used to be a good player of squash and won several awards in the tournaments organized by the Kuwait Society of Engineers.

Mr. Sharma read his poem 'Al-Vida' (Good Bye) which expressed his emotions apt to the occasion.

Mr. Vinod Goyal graduated from UOR in 1977 and came to Kuwait in 1988 to work with Mina Abdulla Refinery - KNPC as an Operational Planning Engineer. Mr. Goyal had been very active in organizing various social activities at various platforms. Mr. Goyal stated that his 31 years journey in Kuwait had been wonderful and full of joy & happiness.

Mr. Ashok Kamthan honoured Mr. Sharma with memento whereas Mr. Rajpal Tyagi honoured Mr. Vinod Goyal with memento.
