The Director-General of the General Administration of Customs, Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi, Thursday evening visited the customs warehouse in the Shuwaikh Port where an inventory of the contents of the 40-foot container was being carried out.

According to report, the container arrived at the port carrying a cargo of about 10 million narcotic pills which are classified as forbidden mental effects although the bill of lading showed the contents of the container are electrical and medical tools and electric fans.

The container was seized when the alleged importer failed in his bid to re-export the contents after failing to get the clearance but the sense of professionalism of the customs officers led to the discovery of the drugs thus thwarting the attempts to pump in this large quantity of drugs into the country.
