The Holy Month of Muslims

Ramadan is the most important month in the Islamic calendar. Muslims all over the world fasts for about 30 days. The month lasts 29-30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon. According to the Islamic belief the Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammed by Allah on this month.

This year Ramadan starts at the first week of May and ends by the first week of June. Muslims fasts from dawn till dusk. Fasting is obligatory for all adult Muslims except those who are suffering from illness or any other problems. They abstain from all bad deeds and stay humble during this period. They conduct community iftars and community prayers.

In the holy month of Ramadan Muslims all over the world fast and pray to Allah during the day and after sunset they have food with their family members. Traditional dishes are served during iftar. It is a time of social gathering with friends and relatives.

Kuwait being an Islamic country observes the month of fasting and praying with great enthusiasm. They engage in charity activities during Ramadan. It is a special month for all the people who live in Kuwait.

During Ramadan, Muslims will tend to wake up just before sunrise to eat some food. They will not be able to eat or drink again until sunset. All the restaurants and hotels will be closed during daytime. All the residents of Kuwait respect the month of Ramadan irrespective of their religion and follow the rules of Kuwait. All the Government Institutions in Kuwait will change the working hours during this period.

We can welcome this holy month with our heart filled with peace, tolerance and harmony. May all the residents of Kuwait be blessed with Almighty Allah’s glory and happiness.
