Syro Malabar cultural Association in Salmiya Area organised Heritage Fest `Paithrukolsavam 2018’

Syro Malabar cultural Association in Salmiya Area organised Heritage Fest under the name `Paithrukolsavam 2018’ . The event has taken place on Friday, 02nd November `18 at ICSK Senior School Auditorium Salmiya.
This is the first time in Kuwait, SMCA organise such festival aiming to familiarize valuable traditions of Syro Malabar church community to the new generation. The fest began with Ramsa Prayer, Catechetical quiz and a Public Meeting and traditional entertainment.
The day was colourful with the Angels Meet – summit of all children who has received First Holy Communion this year. SMCA honoured all children who have made excellent performances in classes X and XII. The day was more enjoyable with traditional artforms, such Magram kali , Chavittu Nadakam, veeradiyar songs, Suriyani music , devotional music concert by Delight band Kuwait.
The fest also given opportunity to taste traditional dishes and variety of traditional food.
SMCA Salmiya Area general convenor MR Shajimon Joseph Erethara presided the meeting and St Theresa Parish Salmiya priest Fr Johnson Nedumpurath SDB inaugurated the fest by lighting the lamp along with SMCA Kuwait Vice President Abhilash Jose Areekuzhiyil, General Secretary Aneesh Thomas Thengumpally, Treasurer Joshy Devassy Vallachirakaran , SMYM Convenor Daneesh Yohannan, and Baladeepthi convenor Sreya Mathew Meppurath felicitated on the graceful occasion. Area Secretary Tom George Nellanickal welcomed all the guests and the community on his opening address.
Fr Johnson were awarded mementos to First Holy communion children and released SMCA Paithrukolsavam souvenir magazine. Academic excellence awards were distributed to top performers by SMCA central office bearers. St Jude Family unit team Mrs Sindhu Sunil & Mrs Sanitha secured first place in catechetical quiz and were awarded LOGOS ever rolling trophy. St Joseph Family unit team, Mrs. Jismy and Mrs. Jomsy Martin were runner up with second place.
SMCA members performed traditional dances and drama, while various family units organized traditional food stalls which enriched the fest.

SMCA Salmiya Area office bearers Shajimon Joseph Erethara, Tom George Nellanickal, Shinto George Kalloor, Kuriakose Mundyanickal, Johnychan Mannamthuruthil, Nash Pottananiyil , Peter Chacko Kochirikudyil , Alexander Mathew Paruvaparambil, Skaria Parokkaran Devassy, Jobi Thomas Kuzhimattom, Daneesh Yohannan , Tom Jose Edayodyil, all Area Committee members and Family unit leaders were given tiring initiatives to make a successful Fest – Paithrukolsavam 2018. SMCA Salmiya Area Treasurer Shinto George Kalloor Thanked everybody for the presence and support to make the fest a great success.
