ICSK Students Receive Black Belt In Karate

The Indian Community School Kuwait organized the award ceremony to confer black belts (Shodan) to 23 students who completed rigorous training under the instructor Mr. Geevarghese Cherian from the Dept. of Physical Education, ICSK.

The evening classes were conducted in ICSK for training students in Karate, a form of martial arts. Mr. Amer Muhammed, Hon. Secretary to the ICSK board of Trustees was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Mr. Rajesh Nair, Principal Amman branch, Mr. Gangadhar Shirsath, Principal Khaitan branch and Dr. Mary Isaac, Vice Principal Amman branch attended the function. Mr. Amer, in his address encouraged the students to continue the journey of learning martial arts especially as a technique for self defense.

He also emphasized that learning martial arts helps the children to be active, confident and self disciplined.

The black belts were conferred by the instructor Mr. Geevarghese Cherian who is a 6th degree Black Belt from International Karate Federation and an authorized Senior Instructor and Senior Examiner in India and Kuwait (Karate Budokan International).

The certificates were distributed by the distinguished guests.

A live demonstration of the Karate was presented to the parents who attended the award ceremony.
