Social media has become a major part of our lives. It has drastically developed over these past few years and is now very popular amongst young ones. We can access social media through almost any phone or tablet we may have. Some examples of social media are WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and Snap Chat. Social media is now used by almost everyone form adults to teenagers to even small children. Of course, people get addicted to this and neglect more important things like spending time with their families and playing outdoor and physical games for fitness and proper health.

Social Media has become very famous nowadays. With new developments in various types of high tech technology social media has also seemed to develop on a large scale. But this hasn’t gone unnoticed, many teens have turned towards these new types of social media and this has had a major impact on them. It has influenced the teens and had a huge effect on their lives in both good and bad ways. It has changed the adolescent’s lifestyle and day to day activities. So, what are the major changes that have taken place in adolescents due to the introduction of new types of social media?

Social media has been quite a boon for the adolescents. It helps them to communicate with their friends, share information and even organize study groups. It also helps the adolescents to be more sociable and keep in touch with their dear ones. Children can also connect to their peers and share their notes, homework and share their ideas. Through social media adolescents can also be made aware of the latest news. In this way they can always stay connected to the outside world.

Social media also helps the adolescents to organize beneficial groups which could be helpful for the society. Social media can make the adolescents very creative and imaginative children. So, through social media adolescents can contribute and dedicate themselves to their society even at home. They could also support associations which help and rehabilitate the poor and the needy and donate money to these associations online. Health information can also easily be accessed by the adolescents through social media.

But of course, everything has a good side and a bad side. So, does social media on adolescents. We should also not always look at the good side of everything but try to recognize its major consequences. If we do not do this then we would fall into major problems and traps which could damage our future and our chance of success. It is better to be safe than sorry.

The adolescents, in their growing stage, get easily addicted to these online and social media games and they are being pulled away from what is more important to them like studies and reading books. Adolescents also stop exercising and therefore they become unfit in the early stages of their lives. This could have a huge effect on them in the future and they would also not be able to perform to the best of their abilities. Since social media is very addictive and children spend a long time with them, their eyes could strain, which could cause temporary and sometimes permanent damage to the eyes.

Social media can also have a very bad influence on the adolescents. Normally teenagers are unaware of what is good or bad during their young age and so they easily fall into traps. Cyberbullying has also become a major problem nowadays. Cyberbullying mainly causes major online harassment and embarrassment. This could to depression, anxiety and eventually suicide. This is a major obstacle to overcome in the teens growing stage and it is quite impossible to deal with this and get back on their feet.

I conclude by saying that social media has many good and bad effects on adolescents but, we cannot completely ban social media from our life and rid it form our daily activities. So, adolescents should be more careful with it, start minimizing their usage of social media and of course try to use it in the best and most creative way possible.
