Books are lonely
Do you know why?
We don’t read that is why
Books just wait
On the shelves of the store
For some little child to come along
To pick it up
And to be read
But if we take it
We just don’t care
We read the first page
And keep it away
We say “later, later I will read it later”
But we don’t read at all
Books become sad
They ask them selves
What have I done wrong?
Why don’t you read me?
Am I too boring?
Am I not fun?’
They wait and they wait
They wait to wrap you in the finest silk
To take you on adventures
To take you to worlds
You have never seen
To show you magic
If you have one at home
Pick it up and read
So it is not alone
and has someone to play
