Thanima organized mega sports event & carnival Onathanima 2017

The much awaited mega sports event & carnival - Onathanima 2017 - organized by Thanima showcased a variety of programs amidst a jam-packed audience cheering & howling at the ICS grounds, Abbassiya. The cultural procession welcoming the guests of honors had the perfect ambience and color with a wide variety of traditional art forms depicting the true spirit and unison of Kerala’s cultural enigma.

The public meeting was presided over by Raghunathan Nair (Onathanima General Conv.) in which HE Daniel Tanase (Romanian Ambassador to Kuwait) was the esteemed chief guest. The event was blessed with the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries with Colonel Ibrahim Abdthul Razak (Jleeb Shuyoukh Chief of Police) and K.G. Abraham as Guests of honor.

Twenty one students, one from each Indian School, received the coveted ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Pearl of the School award’, for their excellence in academics, extracurricular activities and social commitments from HE Daniel Tanase and Col. Ibrahim Abthul Razak. The nominees were honored and applauded with laurels of victory by the crowd. ‘Bini Antony Excellence award’ (a gold medal & certificate) for the best all-rounder from Class VII of United Indian School was given away to Pauline Liza Benny.

All the winners received special gift voucher for free stay with their parents at Nest n’ Mist, Waynad from B.P. Nasser, Director of Frontline Holidays.

K.G. Abraham, a well known Industrialist and philanthropist received Thanima’s ‘Social Excellence Award’, for his humanitarian activities in Kuwait and India. Jacob Varghese (Thanima Gen. Convener) presented the profile. This is the third award of such kind, the other two being to the hit-maker film director Sasikumar and the legendary Artist Sujathan.

An updated ‘Directory of Indian Associations’ in Kuwait was released by Santha Maria James by handing over the first copy to Shibu Paul, Director of Boubiyan Gasses, in the presence of Johney Kunnil, Editor of the Directory.

Musical symphony sessions at each break by ‘Kuwait Melodies’ was a soother to the flamboyant crowd. The flash mob presented by Kuttithanima members was a real surprise and enjoyed thoroughly by the audience.

The nail biting Tug O’ War competition, in which 17 professionally trained teams vying for the Gold Cup and cash prizes competed. Team ‘Rezova Travel & Tourism Friends of Rajeesh-A’ claimed the first prize of Sancelia Ever rolling Gold cup and KD. 351/- ‘Rezova Travel & Tourism Friends of Rajeesh-B’ was the 1st runner-up making themselves eligible for ‘Blueline Ever rolling trophy & KD. 251/- followed by ‘Blueline KKB-C’ as 2nd runner-up claiming Jiju memorial rolling trophy and KD. 151/- cash prize.

All the teams played in the quarter finals of the match were given special cash prizes and trophies, besides trophies for participation to all the participating teams. Individual medals and certificates were also given to all the members of the winning teams. The program started at 3:00 pm and lasted for 12 hours non-stop.

Ramesh (COO, Oncoast) Benny (CEO, Bosco Jewellery), Afsal Khan (Country Head, Malabar Gold) attended the function along with Mrs. Santha Maria James (Principal of Indian Central School and Advisory Board member), Raghunathan Nair, Biju Pappachan, Varghese Paul and Malayil Moosa Koya.

Babuji Bathery coordinated the programs with the support of Pennthanima & Hardcore members. Raju Zacharia (Jt. Gen. Conv.) delivered the welcome speech and Mrs. Mariam G. (Jt. Gen. Conv.) proposed the vote of thanks.
