Kuwait City Mar Thoma Parish held Onam Sanghamam 2017

A spectacular get-together of the Kuwait City Mar Thoma Parish members in connection with Onam celebrations was held on 15 September 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Indian Central School premises.

More than one thousand two hundred members of the Parish attended the programme. The meeting started with the opening song of the Parish Choir followed by a prayer led by Adv. P. John Thomas. The gathering was welcomed by the parish secretary, Mr. William K Daniel. The Parish Vicar Rev. Georgie Varghese presided over the meeting and also delivered the Onam message. Rev. Dr. C. P. Mathew, former Principal of the Episcopal Jubilee Institute, Thiruvalla inaugurated the Onam get-together by lighting the lamp and was followed by the inaugural address. Rev. Sunil A. John, Vicar of the St. John’s Mar Thoma Parish, Kuwait delivered the felicitation speech. Mr. P.C. Abraham, Convenor of the programme proposed the vote of thanks. The closing prayer was led by Rev. V.T. Yesudasan , Vicar of St. Peter’s Mar Thoma Parish, Kuwait. The Parih Vice President Mr. George Samuel and the programme convenor Mr. Sunil T. Thomas were also present on the dais. The programme was well compeered by Mr. Dennis George and Mrs. Beteena Prasad.

After the meeting, enchanting and splendid cultural programme were presented by the various Parish organizations.

The enthralling scene of boat race by the Parish Executive Committee members, the dazzling and heart-throbbing dance by the Kuwait City Mar Thoma Sunday School students, the action-packed fusion dance by the Yuvajanasakhyam and the fantastic thought provoking skit by the Sevika Sangham, transported the audience to the real mood of Onam.

After the cultural programmes, the sumptuous traditional Onam Sadhya was relished by everyone and looked forward for more such social gatherings.
