KDNA conducted Tribute to MS Baburaj “ Babukka Kelkkan”

KDNA presented a mesmerizing event of subtle music as a tribute to the great musician par excellence Muhammed Shabeer Baburaj (MS Baburaj) who conquered the minds of music lovers with his down to earth simplistic composing which still lingers on in the minds and lips of many. He fought against many odds to reach the pinnacle of his career with his mastery over Hindustani music. The night got an emotional uplift as the everlasting songs were rendered by Nimisha Saleem the granddaughter of the legend. The reverence and affection of her to the grandfather added an additional flavor to the songs. The greatly talented Nimisha’s interpretations and narrations on each song before rendering it, gave valuable insights of each song to the audience. Once key member in an established names in Malayalam Music, the Baby-Ignatious team, Mr. Ignatious supported her with his mastery over Harmonium. Akbar Malappuram who accompanied many great singers like Sankar Mahadevan accompanied her on Tabla and Basheer Quilandy on Keyboard. Overall it was night to be remembered for all who gathered in Abbasiya Community Hall. They together journeyed with her, showing their appreciation through round of applause and giving her pin-drop attention.

Earlier in a very short formal function which was presided by KDNA president Suresh Mathur was inaugurated by Hamza Payyannur, Vice Chairman Metro Medical Center. The mementos for artists and sponsors were distributed by Basheer Batha, Kalathil Abdulrahiman, Santhosh Punathil, Krishnan Kadalundi,Sathian Varoonda, Zaheer Alakkal, Ali Koya, Rafi Nandi, MA Hilal respectively. Nimisha’s CD collection of Baburaj Songs was launched by Ayoob Kacheri and first copy received by Rajan Rawther. The special award for the Abbaisya Area who sold most number of coupons for Malabar Mahostavam was presented by Mohamadali Arakkal and was received by Area president Santhosh Nambayil, GS Abdulrahiman Treasurer Thualasidharan and Babu Poyil.

The welcome speech was rendered by General Secretary Zubair MM and Secretary Ubaid Chakkittakandi extended vote of thanks. Vice President Sathian Varoonda lead the volunteer team along with Haneefa Kuttichira, Salam Sayer, Dinesh Meppurath, Shabin Pateri, Shamsuddin AM, Vinayan Calicut, Karunakaran Perembra, Thulaseedharan, Abdurahman MP, Raveendran Mukkam.
