Yesterday’s rain

Yesterday’s rain awakens the village girl in me,
The cool windy weather with fresh fragrant air.
As I board the bus, few drops touched me
Wet my dress and started dripping from it.
The plants danced nodding leaves with splash,
Water here and there, there and here.

It took me to my home land, reminding the two
Beautiful flowers awaiting me, my grand parents
When he take me out in rain, a conscious step
Of keeping me close to him in his umbrella
Assuring I am not wet, even though he might be.

Grandma keeps me close to her sharing
Thoughts, stories of her childhood days
With hot crispy pakoras and ginger tea
I being naughty try to run out in rain
To enjoy its freshness, once fell sick.

She embraced me to make me feel her love,
The safest place for every kid and grownups.
But I am here now, far away with the dream
And thoughts, of my village, a beautiful village.
