As the prime Minister of our country, Mr.Manmohan Singh pointed out, the poor people have not been very successful in yielding out the maximum out of the governments schemes for the welfare of common man. The reason he and his government state for this is the lack of an identification proof. The government has thus thought of bringing in the Aadhaar card, which they feel is a way in which they can efficiently and satisfactorily reach out to the poor. The Aadhar card basically is a means of identification of an Indian in any part of the country. His Aadhar card identity becomes a kind of second name of his in the government spectrum. There is not one reason why we need this card. There are many reasonable and justifiable reasons as to why every citizen must have this card with him. The Aadhar card can play a pivotal role in reducing the number of illegal immigrants in the country. This card ensures that there is a reduction in the amount of corruption prevailing in the country. It also plays a very big role in empowering the weaker sections of the society with an identity of this kind. In also strengthens the interaction between citizens and government by bringing in digital interaction platforms like e-governance.

Making this card available to each and every citizen of our country has been the dream and desire of our very honorable prime minister, Mr.Manmohan Singh. There are a number of very experienced and efficient brains and hands behind the birth of this card, one of them being Mr.Nandan Nilekani, who has taken up the challenge of heading the Unique Identification Authority of India after giving his best to make Infosys Technologies Ltd and the IT scenario of India as a whole what it is today. If this dream of our prime minister and his government has been turned to reality, then one can very confidently say that this is a step ahead towards India being called as a developed country where the people belonging to the lowest rung of the society are given the importance they deserve. To create such a useful mechanism in smaller countries like Kuwait, Singapore etc. wouldn't turn out to be a very big deal whereas in a country like India, with the kind of population that it has, the process undoubtedly with be linked to a lot of mess and troubles. Yet, we dreamt of it and soon we will realize it too !

However, there have been some setbacks as to the whole process by which this card is coming into existence. The causal manner of data collection and the intelligence of the people in highlighting the loop holes in system have resulted in creation of certain barriers. The system has become vulnerable to intense mockery and fun-making. For example, few days back in a village in Andhra Pradesh, an aadhar card was made in the name of a coriander ! The aadhar card coming into existence is a process that must be dealt with far more seriousness and both the people and government must realize the magnitude of seriousness it requires and involves. If this one step can fetch us a lot of benefits, then why not take the best step ahead in the best way possible?
