‘I have seen god, he bats at number 4 for India’ these are words said by legendary Autralian batsman Mathew Hayden for the little master. In a country like India, where the sport is given the importance of a religion, Sachin is considered to be the god or the almighty. Therefore it is not irrelevant to say that this man has been decreasing the number of atheists since 1989.

When a 16 year old boy named Sachin Tendulkar walked into the stadium in Pakistan in 1989, least did people think that this boy would grow up to become the greatest cricketer the world has ever seen or probably the greatest it would ever see. The little master is a holder of about 63 world records in the game of cricket, including the most notable 100 centuries that he has completed a few days back.

Apart from being the tremendous cricketer that he is, this man is an amazing human being, a wonderful family man and most importantly a source of inspiration for the millions of cricket buffs. The path that he travelled to become what he is today is considered to be a story, which is an epitome of inspiration and motivation. It is said that a person like sachin, who is a blend of professionalism and humility is very rare to find these days. As said by the man himself, when somebody has been playing cricket for a long time, he creates a separate identity for himself. And the identity that Sachin had created for himself is far beyond being a legend. He has created an identity that almost everybody wants to posses.

There have been days when sachin was criticized saying his term as a cricketer for India has come to an end, but every time the critics put forth their baseless words, this man gave them a very crisp answer with his bat. Every time a wrong impression of him was created, he let his bat do the talking and never did his bat let his fans down. Be it his historical double century against South Africa in 2010 or his 100th Century against Bangaldesh in 2012, all of them were enough and more to shut the mouths of those who feel the legends legacy is to be brought to an end. As Mr. Kapil Dev said ‘ You cant contain Sachin’s deeds in a statistical frame. He brings unstinted joy to the art of batting. Statistics will happen because cricket is about runs and wickets. To me, he symbolizes the heights an individual can rise to dominate a team sport. Words can never capture the beauty of Sachin’s cricket’

Therefore, it is a unanimously accepted fact that Sachin is a very big reason for India and Indians to feel proud. He has been serving India as a legendary cricketer for above 20 years now and it is not fair on our part to decide his continuity as a cricketer for India. As Sachin himself said ‘ Nobody decided for me when I should begin my cricketing career and so nobody decides for me as to when I should end it ‘. Hoping that the little master continues to inspire, motivate and flood his name with records and runs, here’s wishing him all the best for his career and life ahead. May his legacy continue to fuel the love for the game in our mind.
