WhatsApp driving violations to authorities for action

20,880 violations for reckless driving and 29,062 violations for using a mobile phone while driving were registered in the last year despite the reduction in road users due to long period of lockdown and curfew last year.

Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for the Traffic and Operations Sectors, Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh said that the authorities are using more than one way to monitor mobile phone users while driving, whether by being stopped by patrol teams deployed on the roads, or by monitoring them with cameras.

He called on everyone who detects a violation to photograph it and send it to the General Directorate of Traffic via WhatsApp and authorities will take appropriate action on the violators.

great idea to take pics and send to the authorities.. this should keep the drivers alert from using cell phones specially the idiots who are texting even while driving meaning his 1 hand and 2 eyes and his pee brain are occupied on the cell instead of the road without thinking of other''s safety as well as his own family...
