UAE weekend change: Saturday, Sunday new weekend; Reduced working week

The UAE's federal government departments will shift their working week from January 1, 2022.

Public sector workers will adopt a new four and a half day working week, with the workforce working Monday to Thursday, with a half day on Friday.

Saturday and Sunday will be the new weekend for government workers.

Dubai's and Abu Dhabi's governments said their employees would adopt the same hours also.

No specific instructions or guidance was made relating to the private sector or schools but more details are expected shortly.

well, i feel Friday is a Special Day in Islam
muslims spend friday morning in worshipping
reading Quran , Zikr etc

making friday a working day will not allow muslims to do extra worship on Friday.

wowowowowowo..... again a 1st from UAE. no other place in the world got this... means 2.5 days free time for the people to visit malls, restaurants, cafes, tourist spots and whole lot of activities...
the bottom line means the local market will jump in spending during these off days and ultimately the economy will hit the sky !!!!
what a move..... congratulations... hope here the locals will be enlightened how to create market spending instead of restricting even to drive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
