Trip – Pathway to an Enhanced Life

Trips are a memorable unit of life. They help us in gaining knowledge about a place. We choose our trips based on our purpose. For example, informational, inspirational, entertaining, for leisure or religious. Sometimes one trip can include all these factors. A trip like mine.

Yes, my recent trip had covered all these factors. Let me explain in detail.

It was a windy night on 21 March 2017, and a nightmare for some of my classmates as our results were declared the same day. But for me, that night was a lucky night as parents and I started to Delhi the place waiting for ages.

After a few hours, when the clocks were ringing ting tong at midnight, we boarded the flight. The flight took off in a high speed and in minutes we were above 30,000 feet, cruising above it all.

The Delhi city looked new, developed, and full of greenery. We checked into hotel. Soon after lunch, visited the Nehru Planetarium and Nehru Museum. Jawaharlal Nehru had interest in astronomy just like me, so the government had built a planetarium. On the other hand, the museum was not bad. It was about Nehruji and the freedom struggle of India.

We went back to the hotel and just waited for my mama’s family as they were to join the trip. I was very eager to meet my cousins. That anxiety put me into sleep and suddenly woke up thinking that the clock has turned out. Our both families had a small talk for a while and then back to bed.

Lying on the comfortable mattress and feeling dizzy, I thought, “Trips are time. They are time for enjoying with our loved ones, they are time to learn, they are time to relieve ourselves from the stress and they are time to understand other’s cultures.”

Manali, a hilly beauty in the Himachal part of the mighty Himalayas. We set off… By the time Manali arrived we realized that we had been sitting pointlessly for 16 hours.

The road trip was too creepy because after reaching Himachal Pradesh, the ‘ghati’ started as Manali is a hill station and we crossed four mountains. The tempo was scraping off the narrow road on the mountains. I still cherish the moments of this adventure.

Midnight, Manali was chilly. You can never expect a warm night in Manali unless the sun expands just before it dies. Passing through the cold night was like the experience of being in a hurricane with you on one side and your phone on the other fallen down.

Another hurricane I experienced the following day was the Solang Valley which was colder beyond our imaginations. We were given special clothes and boots to withstand from snow. It was the first time I ever played with snow. White cold frozen water, flaky and easy to throw at others. The river was very clear and chattering as it hit the rocks which created a picturesque valley.

The river continues it course till Kulu where I had been to a great spot for one of the best sport, river rafting. Speaking of its history I can just say that the raft was invented by a legend named Lt. John Fremont in the 1840s. The raft was basically used for river surveys at that time but now look at the change.

Coming back to our rafting, I can just say it was fabulous. River rafting is a risky adventure only when you have rapids on water. Rapids are kind of ups and downs in the river which shakes the raft. You can ask any of the travelers who went on river rafting. They would also give you the same answer. Ok, let’s stop because its turning into ‘Three Men in a Boat’ novel.

Now that I have mentioned culture, I would say that we even visited one of the popular Hadimba temple in Manali. Then… Then what? To Amritsar wroom!!

Sorry, I know you all are waiting for the Golden Temple but what can I do? Visited Dharmasala on the way.

Dharmasala, I believe, is home to exquisiteness. It is so stunning with its blue mountains, green plains, and the wonderful cricket stadium, where India and Australia had been playing a test match of 5 days. In between these marvelous places another powerful place, Dalai Lama Temple. I like these typical Buddhist temples because silence is maintained unlike other religions. The god is being offered with biscuits, chocolates, juices and many more tasty foods.

After a long course in the mountains of the Himalayas we came to the Northern plains, Amritsar. A plain land with greenery everywhere you would love to have in your backyard.

Describing about nature can be going on forever unless there is some limit given. India is such a place. Any place you go, you see the real beauty of mother nature and of course, we Indians preserve it. We treasure our country in such a way that our upcoming generations also show devotion towards the country in a natural manner.

India and Pakistan have been all-time rivals. A match between India and Pakistan means a war between them. Just beside Amritsar(28km), there is Pakistan bordered by the Wagah Border. Here, soldiers of both countries march and almost 5,000 people will be given chance to watch it every day out of which I was one among them.

The Golden Temple, which is on each person’s list of preferences. Gold has always acted as a dignity to mankind. It is precious and improves your standard in the society. Such a valuable and expensive metal was used in the making of the golden temple. The temple proves that gold is accessible to everyone.

My friends, India was suffering loss from the Britain ruling it. Citizens faced grave difficulties in freeing themselves. Britain was a super power and a weak militarized country like India couldn’t do the thing. That’s when non-violence won the game and India became independent. In Amritsar, Jallianwala Bagh is a tourist place. It is a memorial of those people who were killed during a peaceful demonstration. General Dyer and his soldiers shot out 1000 bullets and killed the innocent people.

Coming to north and leaving without seeing Delhi and Agra is the biggest blunder. Agra has one of the seven wonders of the world, Taj Mahal, made of carved pure marble. Mughals played a vital role in our architecture history. Their style infrastructure was peculiar. Agra is famous for five things like marble carving, peta sweet, bamboo fiber, leather, and precious gems.

Frankly, what I adored about Delhi was the Rail Museum. It was something new. The museum had an indoor and outdoor gallery. The indoor gallery was only of miniature models of railway tracks or coaches or engines. While, the outdoor gallery constituted the real models of all the railway coaches. I liked it because, learned something not familiar to me.

That’s what trips do. They teach us, no matter we don’t want. Trips are memorable memories. We learn from our trips. We see the world and understand each city’s culture and tradition through them and they help us in changing our lifestyle by observing others…
