Traffic officers punished for issuing citations against citizens and expatriates

Kuwait’s commissioned and non-commissioned officers at the traffic department ranked top among officers of other ministry departments for being questioned at the department of inspection and supervision in 2018, as complaints against them were received related to arbitrary issuance of traffic citations against citizens and expats.

According to local report, more than 100 officers and non-commissioned officers at the traffic department were summoned and questioned after receiving complaints that they had issued arbitrary citations against citizens and expatriates.

The report also added that the investigations revealed that a number of complaints were malicious, while some officers faced punishments for misuse of authority.

The sources said traffic officers are more interactive with the public and are more monitored on the street due to the nature of their job in the field, so for them to rank first in being investigated does not undermine the efficiency of workers in the sector.

Few of the police officers are good, but many are very bad.
One day at Airport I asked one police guy whether I can change the lane, he took my driving licence and made 45KD penalty and license suspended for 45days.
One more time some one hit my vehicle in traffic and I asked a police officer very near by he recklessly answered me to go and complaint at police station.

Few times some officers are very caring and guided me in proper directions.

There are good police officers and bad ones also.

personally I do not have a bad experience with traffic police.

One day while driving, the road that i intended to go was blocked, I had 2 options, either take a deviation a few yards from where I crossed or go ahead straight.
To save time, I put on the emergency lights on and reversed car on the back direction. The police saw me and put they put on their lights, Then I parked by car on the emergency lane, and walked towards them and told them, I want to go that direction, road is blocked , I have an option to take this road, shall I do it.
Then the police said , No go straight. And I said Thank you & went .

Another incident , I parked my car in front of a Kuwaiti Home, The wheels were flat the next morning. I had to reach office at 7 am , no shops were open. so I had to drive on flat wheel. I reached in front of my office and the the wheels( the rubber area) goes off, It was the traffic police who helped on controlling the traffic behind me, and helping me to get my car parked on the lane area.
Any ways sad to hear on the rest of the experiences. But not all of them are horrible. There are good ppl too.

These police guys think that they are the owner of the roads and the expats are all their
personal servants who need to listen to whatever nonsense they say.
Dear Authority or whoever has the power, plz teach them some manners and honesty.
Whenever u approach them for any job. The 1st response would be as if someone has asked for 1 or both the kidneys.
Pathetic behavior.

I dropped my friend on the road, as his office was just in front, but suddenly a traffic cop came and took my license and gave 2 citation telling :
1.Deliberately obstructing the traffic and
2. Endangering life of a person by dropping on the road.
After 5 days the violation came on moi website and paid fine and got back the license without any questions asked. Location of offense : center point Al rain and license collection from Mubarak al kabeer muroor.
It’s very unfortunate, just to inform you all to be cautious and take care.
Best wishes and thank you for helping each other by sharing your stories.

On a weekend I was driving with my wife & child (both seated at back) and for an emergency parked at for a while at 6th ring road when suddenly a traffic police stopped behind me and asked for my CID, License, daftar and went to his car. He came back and returned CID & Daftar and told to get the license from muroor and gave me a ticket without asking anything. Later when a friend translated it for me he said it is written I was driving Private Taxi. What the hell was that!!!
With great difficulty By God''s grace I somehow got my license back.

Good move... But what about financial loss and mental trauma the victims have gone thru?
