Tourism contributed the lowest in Kuwait in its economy compared to all other GCC countries. According to the recent study, the average contribution of the tourism sector to the country’s GDP reached only 6.1%, compared to 10.8% in the UAE, 9.8% in Bahrain, and 9.7% in Qatar, 9.4% in Saudi Arabia, and 6.8% in Oman.
However the rate of Kuwaiti spending on tourism outside the country is estimated at more than 4 billion dinars annually ($14 billion), equivalent to about 11% of the GDP whereas the country’s annual revenues from tourism did not exceed the level of 300 thousand dinars.
