Books are an essential part of day-to-day life. Can we even go one day without flipping through at least one book? We, as children, do so even more, whether simply for pleasure, or even for research.
Reading is a habit which is diminishing over time. We must once again pick it up and see it for what it truly is. Libraries play a crucial role in keeping this hobby alive. Well, to recognize libraries and all that they do for us, every year, from April 6th, we celebrate Library week.
Libraries, what first comes to your mind when you hear that word? Just a plain building filled with books? On the contrary, libraries can be the most fascinating place in the world, or the most boring, depending on how you look at it. They are like a portal into a whole new universe, strange, new, and exciting, each trip to this place a learning experience in itself.
During my recent trip to the US, I had visited a number of libraries in various towns to explore the books and reading spaces. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much. But what I saw totally blew my mind away! The books were innumerable; every imaginable series were there. But, even better, they not only had reading spaces there, but they even had a separate room for story reading! The story reading was really interactive and it filled the kids with curiosity and positive energy, so that they had so many questions, in the process learning several things without even knowing it themselves. They even teach really small children how to read, so that they can delve deeper into the world of books and reading. This just goes to show that a world without books would be a truly dull one. Reading must not be seen a chore to be completed, but a thirst to be quenched. The right book is out there, just calling your name and waiting for you to find it. Until then, keep reading and searching for the right book.
Enjoy!
