The Iftars of Ramadan

Assalamualaikum and hello Indians in Kuwait! I hope almost everybody has a basic idea of what Ramadan is , Yes , it’s the holy month for Muslims when they’ll have to fast for 30 days and everyday they break their fast only after the evening prayer has been recited aloud . There are many fun things about Ramadan ,you get to know the pain of poor people starving of hunger , many valuable lessons to be learnt , but today I’m going to write about my favourite part of Ramadan , the Iftars !

What is an Iftar?

So looking at the picture above , you might have gotten an idea of what Iftars are . It’s the time when Muslims all around the world break their fast on the recital of the Maghrib prayer (the evening prayer). People most of the times invite their friends and family over to share some food , or sometimes even their helpers and workers like maids , babysitters etc. to share the holy joy and happiness.

How do we prepare for Iftar ?

All the Muslim people prepare different kinds of food of their choice , different drinks and mainly dates on the table or the serving area before they sit for the call of the prayer to ensure that they’re just in time to break their fast . Many people also carry small pages of holy Islamic verses to recite and ask for forgiveness from their sins during the meantime as the Islamic Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) did the same and Allah (Subhanu Wa Ta’aalah) would bless the prophet and forgive his sins as he sacrificed his hunger .

The Iftar begins

After all that fasting everyone looks at the dining table laden with food . When the recital of the prayer begins , we break our fast by eating a ripe date on an empty stomach as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did the same back in his days . After that , it’s up to us what we eat . Either oily food , refreshing drinks , juicy fruits or the good old desi food .

Why do I love Iftars ?

Last but not least , I’ll educate you all about why I love Iftars . You would’ve loved Iftar too , if you had read all the previous paragraphs . Is it about being hungry all day and then filling your tummy up with food in the evening ? If yes , then you’ve got me wrong this whole while , LOL . It’s actually about realising the pain and agony of hungry people all over the world who don’t even afford a single meal a day and doing good deeds to everyone , wether you know them or not . If you’ve regretted ever regretted over something bad you’ve did before , then this holy month is your chance to make do for it , because it goes so that during Ramadan one good deed is worth hundred folds of rewards and one bad deed is worth a hundred folds of sins . I love Iftars because it’s a time of gathering , joy fun and laughter . The time when you get to know each other properly and the time to share kindness to everyone .

So that my friends is an Iftar simply put together , happy fasting and Ramadan Mubarak until we communicate through articles next time .
