Telangana rape: All 4 accused killed in early morning police encounter

All the four accused in the rape and murder of a woman veterinarian were killed in an encounter with Telangana police early on Friday.

According to the police, all the four were being taken to the scene of the crime, where the charred body of the doctor was found, when they allegedly attempted to escape and were shot at.

Senior police officials arrived at the site of the encounter. "The accused Mohammed Arif, Naveen, Shiva and Chennakeshavulu were killed in a police encounter at Chatanpally, Shadnagar today in the wee hours, between 3 am and 6 am. I have reached the spot and further details will be revealed," Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said.

The four accused were arrested and were in judicial custody and lodged in high-security cells at Cherlapally Central Jail in Hyderabad.

Police said that the veterinarian was brutally raped and killed by the accused who burned her body in Shamshabad area on November 27. Her charred body was recovered on November 28.

In spite of heinous crime committed by the rapists in Hyderabad, killing the accused in encounter (read as ''fake'' encounter) is highly deplorable. The same police protected the accused from public wrath while taking them to court and jail, only to kill them in cold blood in the guise of encounter after a few days. Why this drama, if people have no trust in courts, why have them, abolish them. Nobody in this world have right to kill others, EVEN POLICE. The accused in this case were killed even before they are proved guilty by the court of Law. Are we in democracy or a dictatorship?, where people are not given a chance to defend themselves in the court of Law. Giving powers to Police to give instant justice do not augur well to Indian society. What is the guarantee that police are NOT hiding other culprits or the real culprits? Will the police resort to same action, if the same crime is committed by rich individuals. Only to ensure fair justice system, Indian constitution did not entrust the law and order powers only to Police and involved courts also.

Gruesome incidents are happening against women all over the country, why so much attention about very few incidents?. The reason is very simple, it is the media frenzy on selected cases which is driving public crazy about instant justice. Which country is giving instant justice (in 7 days) to the crimes committed in their countries? Why public is emotionally connected to one or two cases, and putting a deaf ear on the several other atrocities committed on women in the name of dowry or girl feticide? Thinking that such fake encounters are a solution to such crimes, is not true. The only solution is to have a disciplined police system which is pro-active and not reactive and to have a judicial system which is fast and unbiased towards any religion, caste, creed, and the economic and political background of the accused. Most importantly we need political leaders who give free hand to police and judicial systems to do their work, without any external interference. Till then, such gory incidents continue to happen.

PERFECT....when the criminals turn into jungle animals than the law also should teach them the same (jungle Law) and shoot on site. lawyers, judges, wastage of time n energy all saved due to this encounter...thank you telengana police. they should do the same with the Unnao accused also...or better give him to the public for lynching..
if such extreme punishments are given, than surely there will be reduction in rape cases. otherwise it will not stop..Nirbhaya 1 n 2 n 3 n 4 will go on n on...JAI HIND

Good move and befitting punishment, they should be burned alive for what they did.
Sentiments apart, is the police sure that they are the criminals. Or the cops just want to close the case and project themselves as heroes, cannot trust the police, they are pretty unreliable.
