Sri Lankan expats arrested in Kuwait for conducting event, released

The Kuwait police arrested 26 Sri Lankans during an event called “Sri Lankan Summer Night” organized by a Sri Lankan association in Kuwait on Friday, August 2nd. However, with the intervention of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait, they have been able to release 24 while two still remain detained.

According to report, the arrests were made for holding the show without prior authorization from Kuwait authorities. Two organisers have been further detained for investigation.

Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said 24 people was released on Saturday night following intervention by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait.
