The first day of implementing the new Article 18 exit permit system for private sector workers at Kuwait International Airport passed without issues, bringing relief and satisfaction among travelers.
Passengers reported that the process was quick and hassle-free, thanks to prior electronic approval from employers. Most travelers noted that the printed permit form was not needed, as the system already displayed it electronically.
According to Al-Rai Arabic news paper report, the Passport Security Department had prepared thoroughly, anticipating various scenarios and ensuring seamless processing. Special arrangements were made for travelers unfamiliar with the new system, and their needs were effectively managed on-site.
Al-Rai also reported that the electronic link between the Public Authority for Manpower and the Ports Administration allowed exit permits to appear directly in the system. There is no need to present a printed form unless the system doesn't reflect the approval clearly, and in such cases, the barcode verification on the traveler’s phone was used.
Exit permit system applies only to private sector workers under Article 18, and does not include children, spouses under family visas, or domestic workers under Article 20.
The new system, aimed at preserving the rights of both workers and employers, has been widely welcomed by residents for its efficiency and clarity.
