
SANTHWANAM Kuwait, the volunteer based humanitarian and socio-cultural organization conducted it’s 10th Annual General Meeting on Friday, 21st January 2011 at United Indian School Auditorium, Abhassiya. His Excellency the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Mr. Ajai Malhotra was chief guest to inaugurate the event and inspired the volunteers and members with his eloquent inaugural speech. Many personalities from different walks of life attended the event and shared their experience and vision on compassion to fellowmen and the responsibility of each human-being to care others in the society. Many evaluated the efforts of SANTHWANAM as a social experiment which is fuelled by the integral goodness of the human being. The President and the General Secretary of SANTHWANAM addressed the audience with detailed reports on activities carried out for the year 2010. Financial statement was tabled by the Treasurer and approved by the AGM.
The Annual Souvenir called “SMARANIKA 2010” was released by H.E. Indian Ambassador in the event. The souvenir contains whole activities for the year 2010 including various reports. The event witnessed a hearty farewell to one of advisory board member Mr. Sivaraman who is leaving to India after completing his expatriate life in Kuwait. He was actively involved in SANTHWANAM’s activities since its inception.



SANTHWANAM was founded in 2001 with an aim to foster human values in the hearts of people and providing support to the weaker and needy persons in the society. Ever since its inception, it has been growing in strength and taking bigger responsibilities serving many underprivileged people in India and Kuwait. The yearly report revealed that it’s voluntary service benefited more than 660 poor patients in the year of 2010 including victims of Endosulfan at different areas of Indian State Kerala. Providing financial assistance to 10 Cancer Patients at Regional Cancer Center of Trivandrum and giving monthly salaries for 4 Nursing Assistants appointed at Attappadi Government Tribal Hospital at Kerala, the organization remained as committed to the humanitarian cause and responsible for caring weaker ones among the society, the report revealed.
SANTHWANAM is voluntarily supported by 1800 likeminded Indians as members in Kuwait and it has chapters in Muscat and Qatar. So far it has financially assisted more than 3200 poor patients for treatment and many social organizations including Pain & Palliative Care Units in India (particularly in Kerala) helped with regular financial assistance. The report exposed the active involvement of the organization in repatriation issues of Indians in Kuwait by providing Air Ticket and financial assistance to poor patients leaving Kuwait for further treatment.
The new governing team consists of 5 Office Bearers, 13 Executive Committee Members, 6 Advisory Board Members, 13 Working Committee Members and an Auditor was elected by the AGM to carry out the activities for the year 2011.
