Ramadan – a quiet blessing

Ramadan – a quiet blessing

As muslims, we are legally allowed to celebrate only two occasions which are – Eid-ul-fitr (big Eid) and Eid-ul-adha (small Eid). The first to be blessed is the Eid ul fitr, also known as big eid. This eid is usually followed by a month (Ramadhan) of obedient fasting. It’s always said “Everything god says to do it, has a benefit of its own. Fasting In the month of Ramadhan isn’t only a worship but helps in many worldly problems (which we spent our whole lives searching solution for) like lack of sleep, weight loss, and up-and-downs in blood pressure. How?? Let’s see

1.Dates

Although about three dates are eaten at the start of Iftar every day during Ramadan for spiritual reasons (to supplement for hunger), they also come with the added bonus of multiple health benefits (this is one of the perfect foods to give you a boost). Dates are also a great way of getting some much-needed fiber, which will aid and improve digestion throughout Ramadan. Add to that their high levels of potassium, magnesium and B vitamins, and it quickly becomes apparently clear that dates are one of the healthiest fruits out there.

2.Lower Cholesterol

We all know that weight loss is one of the possible physical outcomes of fasting during Ramadan. A team of cardiologists in the UAE found that people observing Ramadan enjoy a positive effect on their lipid profile, which means there is a reduction of cholesterol in the blood.

Low cholesterol increases cardiovascular health, greatly reducing the risk of suffering from heart disease, a heart attack, or a stroke.

3.Detoxify

When your body starts eating into fat reserves to create energy, it will also burn away any harmful toxins that might be present in fat deposits. This body cleanse will leave a healthy blank slate behind, and is the perfect stepping stone to a consistently healthy lifestyle.

Fun facts on Ramadhan

1 It is not compulsory for children to fast until they reach puberty

2 People fasting only eat before the sun rises and after the sunsets: The meal taken before sunrise is Suhoor and the meal taken after sunset is Iftar.

3 Breaking the fast unintentionally attracts no penalty

4 As I have already said above, 30 days of practiced fasting lead to a beg festival eid ul fitr

5 Individuals are encouraged to discontinue their Ramadan fast if it threatens their overall health.

6 During Ramadan, many offices and schools in Muslim-majority countries shut early.

7 You can express well-wishes for Ramadan by saying “Ramadan Kareem” (“Have a generous Ramadan”) or “Ramadan Mubarak” (which can translate as “Happy Ramadan).”
