Prosilience: Piloting Through Turbulent Times Virtual Investiture Ceremony : 2020-2021 Carmel School, Kuwait

“We will either find a way or make one.” – Hannibal Barca

Carmel School, Kuwait held its first ever Virtual Investiture Ceremony on Friday, 14th August, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. over a Zoom Conference. The management, staff, students and their parents signed in to the session ardently and took part in it earnestly in keeping with the solemn mood of the swearing-in event. The ceremony commenced with the National Anthems of Kuwait and India, which were followed by a prayer and recitations of the sacred scriptures. The occasion being the eve of Indian Independence Day, the students of Grade XI paid tribute to the great leaders who led India to its emancipation and reaffirmed their patriotic fervor and loyalty to the nation through a pre-recorded patriotic dance.

The beloved parents of the new Head Boy and Head Girl were the Chief Guests and the parents of the new Cabinet were the Guests of Honour. Holding their heads high, the School Pupil Leader, the Assistant School Pupil Leader and the ministers of the outgoing student cabinet handed over the mantle of their responsibilities to the newly-elected Cabinet symbolically through a series of formal pronouncements. Acel Joe Varghese, the new Head Boy, Jenisha Jaivin the new Head Girl and the ministers of the new Cabinet, who were invested with their powers, professed the ‘Oath of Office’ administered by Sr. Christy Maria, the Principal and promised to their alma mater that they would discharge their duties with diligence, passion and loyalty. The Principal urged the new leaders to shoulder their responsibilities with an unwavering commitment and devotion and extended her best wishes to them. She exhorted them to carry out their mission resiliently and fervently in accordance with their maxim, ‘Prosilience: Piloting through Turbulent Times’. “Prosilience is the need of the hour and an apt maxim of leadership in this time of unprecedented crisis,” commented a participant.

The parents of the new Head Boy and Head Girl addressed the conference and felicitated the new student leaders. The outgoing Cabinet pledged their alliance and collaboration and extended their best wishes to the new crew through an inspirational felicitation video that showcased the core values that guided them throughout their tenure. The Head Boy and the Head Girl placed on record their gratitude to the management, staff and students for reposing their trust in them and assured them of the discharge of their duties with utmost fidelity. The emcees thanked all who joined the meeting for their engaging presence and participation. Thus, the first ever virtual investiture ceremony that added one more eventful chapter to the unceasing success saga of Carmel, came to a close with the School Anthem sung by all Carmelites in one accord reaffirming their allegiance to ‘Excelsior’.
